Patellofemoral pain is one of the most common knee injuries we treat at our Newcastle and Nelson Bay Physio clinics. It normally presents at pain in through the front of the knee behind the patella, but can also be associated with joint swelling or tightness in behind the knee (caused by a Baker's Cyst). Main causes for the development of this type of knee pain can include: tight ITB/outside quads muscle, weak inside quads and glute muscles, over pronation of the feet and inc knee length bodycon red color dress ... reased Q-angle.
There are a number of ways we can successfully treat this condition including dry needling, massage, corrective exercises, foam rollers for ITB releases, taping, braces, custom orthotics and modifications to your exercise program.
